“It’s easier to fool the masses than to convince them that they are being fooled.” – Mark Twain
“IT IS WHAT IT IS. “– “THIS IS JUST THE WAY IT IS.” – “THERE IS A REASON FOR EVERYTHING” – “IT IS MEANT TO BE.”
These are all statements that I hear way too often; all of them indicating complacency, an excuse to not take responsibility and use our intelligence for critical thinking and investigation.
Yes, it is true that things are the way they are. Yes, there is always a reason for things happening but neither one means that it is meant to be.
Yes, there is a reason, or better said, there are many reasons for poverty, drug use and drug overdoses, starvation, violence against women, discrimination, and the endless list continues, and includes the current world crises.
This does NOT mean that things are “meant to be” this way. If we want change, if we want to secure our rights and freedoms, we need to wake up and be willing to “look behind the curtain” with a critical mind.
It always amazes me that people spend more time researching a vehicle they intend to buy than, for example, looking into the quality of food they put into their own and their children’s body, and the effects of wireless technology. For the sake of convenience, most people are accepting too easily what society dishes up in front of them.
We owe it to our children, generations to come and the planet, to question the common narrative and become active players in influencing the future in positive, peaceful, caring, and constructive ways.
As always, I do not ask anyone to agree with me, but I want to encourage you to use your mind to question what we are made to believe.
“You can look the other way, but you can never say, you did not know.” William Wilberforce
