TROUBLE WITH SEASONAL ALLERGIES

Most of us welcome the arrival of spring, yet for others it means the return of a challenging time because of seasonal allergies.

Suffering may be reduced greatly with natural remedies, many of them available at my office. Call me at 780.532.2464 for information.

A wholesome diet (eliminates food allergens), regular exercise, stress reduction, reflexology and a positive outlook on life are key to our well-being all helping to reduce allergic/sensitivity reactions.

SEASONAL ALLERGIES present as short term, seasonal episodes with the majority of symptoms concentrated in the respiratory system, but can extend to the skin and digestive tract. Reactions may be triggered by air-borne pollens, dander, dust and mold.

COMMON SYMPTOMS include:

  • Sneezing
  • Post nasal drip
  • Sinus and nasal congestion
  • Itchy watery eyes
  • Excessive clear mucous production
  • Laboured breathing
  • Skin irritations or hives

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.

“Many people walk in and out of your life, but only love will leave footprints in your heart…”

FOOD FOR THOUGHT – DATA COLLECTION

DID YOU KNOW that the federal government has quietly begun the creation of Personal Information Banks (PIB) to collect and store data on Canadians incl. biometrics (DNA, blood type, eye/facial scan, fingerprints), personal biography, medical history, financial history, credit information, opinions or views of or about individuals…

Follow the link below, scroll all the way down to the last section “Categories of Personal Information” to find out more details on all the information gathered/stored.

Read carefully, spread the word, and you may not want to agree to electronic filing of your income tax return this year before reading the fine print carefully!

SPIRITUAL HEALING

By Jo Francks, MH

“Many times we work on our physical symptoms by cleansing the body with juices, food and herbs, change our diet to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds, but no matter how hard we try we can’t get our health to a level where we feel great. We improve some but can’t seem to get past some unseen block.

Dr. Edward Bach discovered an interesting thing about plants and their flowers. Using the vibrational energy from the blooms, buds, young leaves and flowering twigs, he created Bach Flower Remedies. He believed that physical disease (dis-ease) was primarily the result of imbalances in our mind and emotions. And his Bach Flower remedies address those imbalances in our mind and emotions.

Gudrun Penselin has been advancing Edward Bach’s information and has written the book Healing Spirituality, A Practical Guide to Understanding and Working with Bach Flowers. Through her own healing journey she has discovered how these remedies serve us in all walks of life and in all aspects. “The flower essences are non-toxic herbal preparations that affect all levels of our being, with the primary focus being a person’s mental and emotional states as well as their spiritual well-being. Since the health of our physical body is closely related to our emotions, mental outlook, and spirit, the body is often able to create physical balance once harmony is being achieved in the other three aspects.”

Gudrun has also created a companion card deck to go along with her book. Bach Flowers Unfolding has a card for each of the essences with exquisite full color illustrations and details including a message from each respective flower and the primary focus. Gudrun suggests that just holding the card can be as effective as using the remedy itself because the energy is infused in the cards.

Dr. Christopher always taught that you need to work on all aspects of health including the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. If you feel stuck in your healing journey this book or card set may provide the information you need to find a remedy to help you move toward wellness.

The book and cards are now available at Christopher Publications. These both go together and make a great gift or resource to help you in the use of Bach Flower Remedies.”

ROSEHIPS HIGH IN VITAMIN C

Rosehips are from the Wild Rose (Rosa canina). They are especially high in vitamin C but also contain vitamin A, B1 and B2 in the pulp. Vitamin C was first discovered in Rosehips. Long before the discovery of vitamin C Rosehip tea was used for the common cold and locally for inflamed and bleeding gums.

Most animals are able to manufacture their own vitamin C but because of a lack of a major enzyme in the human liver, the human body is unable to manufacture its own vitamin C. This is why we need to ensure adequate vitamin C intake through our diet or supplements. Rosehips also help to maintain healthy collagen, the substance that holds trillions of cells together in our body.

ROSEHIP TEA

Following are two of my favourite ways of preparing Rosehip tea:

1. My preference is to make a cold infusion and let it sit over night or at least a few hours before straining it. Cold infusions have the advantage of preserving the mineral content provided by the herbs.
2. Make a cold infusion and then slowly bring the infusion with the rosehips to simmer to make a decoction.

For instructions of the different water extractions such as cold infusions and decoctions I suggest you refer to disc 1 of the DVD “Herbal Pharmacy for Everyone”.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT – IS HISTORY REPEATING ITSELF?

The strange and unsettling times continue in too many facets of life…

Please follow this link for important information: https://bit.ly/3kHD4IN

Ask yourself, why it has become necessary to create a link in order to share relevant information on this platform.

I often have been thinking about “retiring” from Facebook – the only social media I have ever used. Compared to a few years ago, the number of people reached is minimal, which makes it hardly worth the effort. My preference is to share information that seems relevant rather than personal small talk. However, this has become increasingly difficult. True free speech is under great threat. Many topics have become taboo or one needs to find ways to avoid certain words that could potentially trigger mechanisms of control. This is not only sad but rather scary.

A survivor from the second world war is sharing her perspective on the current global developments in an interview. She has also produced a documentary which will start airing this coming Monday, January 30. I encourage you to take the time to watch both the interview and the documentary with an open mind. May this open your eyes to the harsh reality we live in and what there is potentially still to come.

I would like to post the name of the survivor, the links to the interview and documentary directly on this page but if I would, chances are that the post would never be published. Just think about this for a moment what this truly means. Is this really the world you want to live in or the life you envision for your children and grand children?
